TMJ Pain Relief & Treatment

Personalized treatment designed to relieve jaw pain, headaches, and TMJ discomfort while improving oral function and quality of life.

What Is TMJ?

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your jaw to your skull and helps control everyday movements such as chewing, speaking, and yawning. When the TMJ becomes strained or misaligned, it can lead to jaw pain, headaches, facial tension, and difficulty opening or closing the mouth.

TMJ discomfort can develop from factors such as teeth grinding, jaw tension, stress, bite problems, or joint inflammation. Common Causes of TMJ Disorders:

  • Teeth Grinding (Bruxism)

  • Jaw clenching & tension

  • Bite misalignment

  • Stress-related jaw tension

  • Joint inflammation

  • Jaw injury or trauma

These issues can lead to jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds, headaches, and TMJ discomfort. TMJ disorders (TMD) may affect everyday activities such as chewing, speaking, and opening or closing the mouth comfortably.

Common TMJ Symptoms

Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) can affect the jaw joints, muscles, and surrounding tissues responsible for everyday jaw movement. TMJ disorders may cause discomfort, tension, and difficulty with normal oral function. These may include:

  • Jaw locking or stiffness

  • Clicking or popping sounds when moving the jaw

  • Jaw pain or tenderness near the ears

  • Facial muscle tension or spasm

  • Difficulty chewing or opening the mouth comfortably

Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) affect the jaw joints and surrounding muscles, commonly referred to as TMJ disorders. These conditions can cause jaw pain, tension, headaches, and difficulty with normal jaw movement.

TMJ and TMD symptoms may be temporary or long-term depending on the underlying cause. At G Orthodontics in Pearland and West University, we carefully evaluate jaw movement, bite alignment, and signs of clenching or grinding to create a personalized treatment approach focused on long-lasting relief.
