Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Yesenia Garcia is naturally from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. She obtained her Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the School of Dentistry of the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2004. After she became a General Dentist, Dr. Garcia moved to Houston, Texas where she spent one year practicing general dentistry and restoring many patients with advanced dental problems at the University of Texas, Houston Dental Branch at the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program. In 2005 she went to Jacksonville, Florida to pursue her dream of becoming an orthodontist. Dr. Garcia completed two years of specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2007 at Jacksonville University, School of Orthodontics.  Dr. Garcia has also completed a Masters Program on treating patients with clear aligners, as well as has been trained by Board Certified Sleep Medicine Doctors on Pediatric and Adult Sleep Apnea since 2008.

Dr. Garcia is a second generation dentist with 40 years of combined dental experience, working with her father after hours and weekends since she was in middle school.  She had a wonderful time practicing general dentistry in the Houston area, so she decided to come back to Pearland, Memorial, and Town and Country to practice orthodontics as well. Trained in the latest techniques and cutting edge technology in orthodontics, Dr. Garcia uses the most modern materials to move teeth efficiently with less discomfort to the patients.

She is also a certified Invisalign provider and practice treatment for pediatric and adults sleep medicine in the Pearland, Memorial, and other Houston areas. We have the latest digital low dose radiographic technology as well as we have our own in House Laboratory, where we fabricate our clear aligners to provide the highest quality products to our patients at a lower cost. Dr. Garcia is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists. As a three times Board Certified Orthodontist (Less than 30% of Orthodontist in US are Board Certified), Dr. Garcia only attaches to the highest standard of orthodontic practices. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, Hispanic Dental Association, and Pearland Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Garcia has a special passion for dentofacial orthopedics and is one of the few Orthodontists in Houston that treats dentofacial deformities in conjunction with Orthognathic and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Garcia loves to help kids with speech problems and educates the community on how these problems can have a root in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. With her compassion she corrects the bite and aligns the jaws, which allows the kids to improve their speech.

She has a special interest on Sleep Apnea and the effects that this has in growth and development and on the life of adults and works with pediatric and general medical doctors and ENTs to ensure that children and adults are properly diagnosed and treated for this condition.

Dr. Garcia has received numerous awards during her career as a general dentist and as an orthodontist. She combines excellence with a wonderful charisma that makes her patients feel comfortable during the orthodontic treatment. Dr. Garcia resides in Bellaire with her husband and daughter. She is also fluent in Spanish. Dr. Garcia’s passion is to help everyone have a gorgeous smile.

Dr. Garcia enjoys serving the community. As past President and current Board member of the Houston Hispanic Dental Association, Dr. Garcia participates in numerous community projects throughout the year where she helps the general as well as the Hispanic community.

She is an educator and finds joy in coaching other doctors in orthodontics, dentofacial orthopedics and pediatric sleep disorders.   She is the founder of the Houston Orthodontic Study Club where she teaches and coaches other doctors on how to provide superior orthodontic care for children and adults.  Having completed a Masters Program on the treatment with Invisalign (clear aligners),  allows her to treat complex cases with clear aligners.

Dr. Garcia believes that a child should have their first orthodontic evaluation no later than age 7 However, if a child presents habits such as thumb sucking, or signs of speech problems, sleep or breathing disturbances, and/or jaw misalignments (crossbites, underbites), Dr. Garcia performs a comprehensive growth and development evaluation by age 5 and recommends appropriate treatment to address those problems.  These is done in close collaboration with pediatric, general , ENT and speech doctors.

Besides spending time with her family, teaching and coaching other doctors, Dr. Garcia enjoys dancing (specially latin music), traveling, playing dominoes, playing tennis, and she really enjoys the beach.
